Psycho-Oncology

Psychological Support in the Context of Cancer

A cancer diagnosis never affects the body alone. It alters life on every level – for those directly affected as well as for partners, family members, and close companions. Feelings such as fear, uncertainty, sadness, anger, or overwhelm are entirely normal in this situation. At the same time, many people feel a strong wish to regain stability, orientation, and inner strength.
Psycho-oncology offers professional support in exactly this space. It combines psychological care with specific knowledge about the particular challenges that come with cancer. The aim is to improve your quality of life, strengthen your personal resources, and help you find ways to navigate the illness and its consequences with greater clarity and stability.

When can psycho-oncological support be helpful?

  • after receiving the diagnosis, to cope with shock and uncertainty
  • when dealing with fear, worry, or depressive moods
  • during phases of physical strain or exhaustion
  • when changes in partnership or family life become challenging
  • when important decisions need to be made and clarity is required
  • for family members who experience their own worries and helplessness

My Integrative Approach

In my work as a psycho-oncologist, I combine my training in psycho-oncology with several additional areas of expertise. Each perspective contributes something different and valuable to the therapeutic process.

Systemic Therapy

Illness never affects one person alone – it always touches the entire relational environment. A systemic perspective makes it possible to include partners and family members, strengthen communication, and foster mutual support.

Couples Therapy

Physical illness can place significant strain on relationships. Couples therapy offers a space to address the emotional impact of cancer, strengthen connection, and navigate changes together in a supportive and constructive way.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapeutic methods help activate inner resources that make it easier to cope with fear, pain, sleep difficulties, or tension. Hypnosis can support relief, reduce distress, and help restore a sense of inner calm.

Mindfulness-Based Methods

Mindfulness has proven to be particularly effective in managing stress, inner restlessness, and persistent worry. It allows for a more conscious experience of the present moment, supports emotional stability, and helps maintain clarity even in difficult situations.
My many years of personal practice in this area inform my work – and you do not need any previous experience.

For patients and family members

My offer is directed both at those directly affected and at their loved ones. Partners, children, and other close companions are also impacted by the illness and often need their own space for relief and support.
