Ethical guidelines – Praxis Collip
What you can expect

Ethical guidelines

Confidentiality, informed consent and protection of the therapeutic relationship are not side conditions of the work but its precondition.

The German Association for Systemic Therapy, Counselling and Family Therapy (DGSF) has formulated ethical guidelines setting out what you can expect from therapeutic work — and what you cannot. The points that govern the work in this practice are summarised here in plain terms. The full wording is available on the DGSF website, in German.

Basic attitudes
Every person is regarded as the expert on their own life. The aim of the work is not to prescribe solutions but to widen the space in which your own decisions become possible.
Professional competence
We only offer services for which we are demonstrably trained. Our work is reviewed and developed regularly through supervision and continuing education.
Confidentiality
Everything you tell us stays confidential — including after our work together ends. Exceptions are set out in law and are communicated transparently.
Information and informed consent
At the start you are informed about qualifications, way of working, costs and confidentiality. You make decisions about working together freely and without pressure.
No discrimination, exploitation or abuse of trust
The therapeutic relationship rests on trust. That trust must not be used for personal interests — neither during nor after our work together.
Work with children and adolescents
Children and adolescents are treated as individuals with rights of their own. Parental authority and the welfare of the child are kept in view at the same time.
